Levanta Enters German Linux Market

STUTTGART, BUSINESS WIRE -- Levanta, the leader in Linux management, today announced the launch of its international sales program in Germany. Open source solutions provider Millenux (http://www.millenux.com/) has been named Levanta's first German reseller partner in the southern region, and Levanta is recruiting additional resellers in the northern region.

As Linux revenues continue to climb across EMEA (24.7% growth in Q4 '05, according to research firm IDC), Levanta is responding to the strong European demand for mature Linux management solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Millenux will resell Levanta's award-winning Intrepid M management appliance in the DACH (Germany, Austria ; Switzerland) market.

''Due in large part to its early heritage with the SUSE Linux distribution, Germany immediately established itself as one of the most sophisticated Linux markets in the world,'' said Michael Rinschen, Levanta's International Sales Director in Germany. ''Millenux has been one of the leading Linux resellers in Germany, and we believe that with their deep experience in enterprise Linux systems management, they are an ideal partner to bring our solution to this market.''

Levanta's Intrepid M is the first appliance to combine data virtualization with network provisioning -- delivering on demand functionality in a Linux systems management solution that's as accessible to the mid-market as it is to the enterprise. Winner of the ''Most Innovative Hardware Solution'' from LinuxWorld, and recently named a finalist in eWeek's ''Excellence Awards,'' the Intrepid M appliance greatly simplifies common Linux management scenarios (from server provisioning, to application deployment, to disaster recovery and change control).

''Linux users in Germany are actively seeking management tools that can rival what's commercially available for traditional operating systems, such as Windows and Unix,'' said Thomas Uhl, founder of Millenux. ''With the Intrepid M, finally a solution has arrived that satisfies the heavy lifting management requirements of the Linux systems administrators, with a value that really appeals to the business decision-makers. We see a huge upside in reselling the Intrepid M to the DACH market.''

In the U.S., Levanta earlier this year sponsored a ''Get the Truth On Linux Management Study'' which disputed previous Microsoft claims that Linux is difficult to manage. In a study of more than 200 U.S. Linux enterprises, U.S. analyst firm Enterprise Management Associates found that sophisticated tools today allow Linux management to be fast, effective, and inexpensive.
